Christopher served as a Chaplain in the RAF. Christopher found his job harder and harder as the pressures of counselling men returning from the Falklands War mounted. He took a turn for the worse when friends in the RAF Germany Band were killed in a coach crash. He was responsible for supporting members of the RAF Musical Services during repatriation of the bandsmen and offering care to the families of the bereaved. Soon after Chris retired from the RAF as a Senior Chaplain and returned to civilian ministry. Several years later he became unwell.
It was at this point that he was put in touch with the RAFBF. We provided him with a grant to sustain him, and put him in touch with the Combat Stress home at Hollybush House, where he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Chris said:
“When I became very ill and didn’t know what to do, my first thoughts were of going to the RAFBF for help and guidance. Because of the help of the RAFBF and Combat Stress I am getting my life back again and making progress.”
