Kevin Harris
Kevin left the RAF in 1988. In 2004, his three-year-old son, Rhys, was diagnosed with ‘Nemo’, a life-threatening genetic defect. The only hope of survival for Rhys was an entirely new immune system.
However, to have the operation, Rhys would have to go to Newcastle General Hospital. The family was desperate to stay with him at this testing time, but their home was in Wales and they could not see a way to afford staying in Newcastle while Rhys needed them.
That’s when we stepped in, paying the rent on a property in Newcastle and the mortgage costs on the family home so that the Harris family could be with Rhys for the entire period of treatment.
Kevin said:
“The RAFBF’s help meant we could give Rhys the support and love he needed during this incredibly difficult time, and we are immensely grateful for that.”
