Roger Morewood
Roger Morewood served in the RAF for twelve years. During the Battle of Britain he flew Hurricanes, Bristol Blenheims and Beaufighters, performing a number of duties, including protecting convoys in the English Channel. Roger left the RAF for three years, before returning as an instructor at the Central Flying School, where he served for another five years.
Later in life Roger found himself in need of financial assistance, as due to problems with the commissions he held in the RAF, he slipped through a crack in the system and was not entitled to a pension. That was when a friend told him about the RAF Benevolent Fund. Since then, for twenty seven years, we have provided Roger with a regular maintenance grant.
“I’m quite comfy here in my home,” says Roger, “but I couldn’t live as I do without the help I receive from the RAFBF.”
