Sergeant Dave Jones
Sgt Dave Jones has served in the RAF since 1983. Recently Dave was diagnosed with a degenerative disease called Cerebellar Ataxia, which affects his balance and speech, and could eventually leave him in a wheelchair. Dave’s family realised they would have to make their home safe for Dave, so they contacted the RAF Benevolent Fund for help.
We found that the family home was not practically suited to adaptations, and so instead we purchased a bungalow for Dave and his family.

“Before we contacted the RAF Benevolent Fund I found living in my own home really difficult. I fell down the stairs many times, cracking my ribs and injuring myself. The RAFBF were amazing, helping us move to a bungalow, eliminating the danger from the stairs, and adapting the bathroom to make it easily accessible. I really can’t thank them enough for all their fantastic help.”
