1475 Squadron, Air Training Corps
The RAFBF enjoys enormous support from cadets of the Air Training Corps. One notable example is 1475 (Dulwich) Squadron, who since 2001 have raised over £30,000 for us, through special fundraising concerts held in memory of their Patron, Jack D Lane DFC.
Flight Lieutenant Kevin Mehmet, 1475 Squadron’s Commanding Officer, said:
“We encourage our cadets to serve their community and the RAF Family, as it is their family. It’s through the work of the RAFBF that we can fully appreciate the sacrifices the men and women of the RAF have made to protect and maintain the freedoms we enjoy today.”
In 2007 1475 Squadron was presented with the ceremonial RAFBF Poignard – the first cadet unit to receive the honour. This year, 1475 Squadron’s concert will be dedicated to the 90 years of support the RAFBF has provided to the RAF family. The concert is being held at St Clement Danes Church, London, on Thursday 10 December 2009. For more information on 1475 squadron, visit www.1475.org
