Flying Officer Rob Town

Flying Officer Rob Town completed the challenge of a lifetime by conquering the Austrian Iron Man event, which included a 2 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26 mile run, raising £550 for the RAF Benevolent Fund along the way.

Last year, after three of Rob’s friends were killed in a helicopter crash, we stepped in to help the families. Rob wanted to complete the Iron Man Challenge to commemorate his friends and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

Rob said:

“The RAFBF was there for my mates’ families when they needed help so it was great to give something back. After the event it took me three days before I could walk without hurting. It was the most painful thing I have done in my life and I loved every minute of it!”
