The RAF Marham Richard Burns Memorial Rally

The Richard Burns Memorial Rally was a special event in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Richard Burns Foundation, taking place over the weekend of the 13/14 September 2008. The weekend raised an astonishing £18, 373 for the RAFBF alone!
Markko Martin competed and won the race in the 2008 Subaru Impreza World Rally Car. The event had over 100 cars take part, including Subaru Imprezas, Mitsubishi Evos, Ford Escorts, Aston Martin DB9s, Lancia Stratos and many others.
The event also saw RAFBF beneficiary Carl Harding going for a spin in the new Subaru World Rally Car, and then waving off the rally competitors at the start line, in the shadow of one of Marham’s Tornado GR4 jets.
Carl said:
“This was a really amazing day – not only have the people at Marham and Subaru put on a cracking event, they’ve also honoured the memory of Richard Burns, who was a truly great World Rally Champion. We’ve all had a brilliant time – and with only minor damage done to the station!”
