RAF Honington Families Day
The RAF Benevolent Fund hosted a 90th anniversary party as part of the RAF Honington Families Day on 29th July 2009. The event, which saw RAFBF staff and volunteers provide a circus, fun packs and picnic boxes for the many children on station, was judged a tremendous success by all.
RAFBF Station Champion Sgt Darrel Keane mobilised his Physical Education team to run the “It’s a Knock Out” style competition, and also helped out on the RAFBF stalls, handing out free lunches to kids and answering questions about the charity’s work.
Darrel said:
“Days like today are great because it’s a chance for our personnel to learn how the RAF Benevolent Fund works with the RAF Regiment here at Honington, through its childcare centre and welfare work, and among the serving RAF as a whole. The most important thing is that the there was loads for the kids and parents to enjoy all day – and it didn’t rain!”
