MUGAs (Multi-Use Games Areas)
We launched a major new youth project at RAF Cranwell this year, when the ribbon was cut on a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at RAF Cranwell.
Designed to provide a safe sports and leisure space for young people on stations, the construction of this MUGA is a pilot for a broader youth support programme which we will be pioneering on RAF stations across the UK over the next five years.
Up to £10 million will be spent providing equipment and youth support on some 20 stations. As well as the construction of MUGAs, the funds will go towards the regeneration of existing play parks, sports leadership training for 16 – 20 year olds, basic training in youth work for adult volunteers and the provision of qualified youth work staff.
