RAF Music for Scottish Schools
The Band of the RAF Regiment played a concert in October 2009 at Stirling University to celebrate the conclusion of two days of free music tutorials it ran for local schools. They raised £1,600 for the RAF Benevolent Fund in the process.
The concert, part of the annual “RAF Music for Scottish Schools” initiative, followed workshop days at schools in the Stirling and Falkirk area. These sessions offered young musicians the opportunity to develop their skills under the watchful eye of the internationally renowned Band of the RAF Regiment.
Wing Commander Alasdair Beaton, head of the initiative, said:
“The RAF Music for Scottish Schools program aims to bring the RAF and young Scots closer together through the enjoyment of music. We’re particularly pleased to have raised such a fantastic amount for the RAFBF, as it’s the charity that looks after the whole RAF family, including the children of those who have served - a cause very close to our hearts.”
Last year a similar concert, featuring the RAF College Band, raised £855 for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
