David Mears
When David Mears died last year, his sister-in-law, Carol Taylor, organised a collection at his funeral for the RAF Benevolent Fund, because David had often said how he wished he’d carried on in the RAF after his Service in 1952-1957.
“It seemed a good idea, so I got in touch with Jon Heard - the Legacy Officer at the Fund,” explained Carol. “He was fantastic, easy to talk to, and very helpful.
“David had left 25% of his estate to the RAF Benevolent Fund in his Will - my late sister also left something - so Jon Heard kindly arranged for a trumpeter to come to David’s funeral and play the Last Post. David would have been very pleased with that!”
