The Rt Hon Alex Salmond MP/MSP
Scotland’s First Minister, The Rt Hon Alex Salmond MP/MSP, hosted a reception to mark the 90th anniversary of the RAF Benevolent Fund at Edinburgh Castle on 31 March. The theme of the event was “90 Years: Repaying the Debt we Owe”. Highlights of the event included a fly-past by two RAF Tornado fighter jets and a performance by the Band of the RAF Regiment.
First Minister Alex Salmond said:
“The RAF Benevolent Fund provides valuable support to people in the RAF family who may need help through ill health, poverty, disability or misfortune. I am delighted to mark this important milestone in the charity’s history and to celebrate its remarkable work over the past 90 years. The Scottish Government shares the RAF Benevolent Fund’s commitment to supporting service personnel and the belief that those who have served in the Armed Forces deserve our gratitude for their selfless duty.”
